New Moves

two day workshop

New Moves is an evidenced-based 16 week healthy lifestyle program. It was specifically developed to assist people living with mental illness to adopt a healthier way of life to improve their physical and mental health outcomes. This workshop will train staff and peer workers to run the 16 week program. Participants will receive the New Moves facilitator manual to enable them to implement and facilitate the program.

By the end of this workshop participants will be able to:

  • encourage people to think about their lifestyle
  • support people to make healthier choices by engaging in weekly exercise sessions, discussion topics and preparing healthy meals
  • provide information and links to further support people to maintain a healthier lifestyle
  • encourage people to talk to health workers about their physical health needs.
