Paper submitted to Productivity Commission
Last July One Door finished writing and submitted a response to the Productivity Commission Paper on Costs in the NDIS. One Door’s paper drew attention to topics relating to the NDIS and affecting people with mental illness. In particular, the submission drew attention to issues such as the continuity of support for people with mental illness but not eligible for support from the NDIS, the needs of a growing disability workforce, and the problem of “service of last resort” for people with difficult or highly complex needs. We hope to hear back from the Productivity Commission in October.
Carer Respite Services Campaign Update
For the past several months One Door has run a campaign for signatures via Change.org in support of Carer’s Respite services being quarantined from funding cuts associated with the transition into the NDIS. In particular, the campaign focused on continuing funding for the Mental Health Respite: Carer Support program. One Door has now closed the signature drive and CEO of One Door Rob Ramjan has written to the Honourable Christian Porter MP, Minister for Social Services, in support of the campaign.
