From the CEO

Christmas is almost upon us once again. This time has significance for many of us in a variety of ways. For some it is a religious celebration, for others a time when family and friends come together to share, for others it is a time to take a break, relax and recharge.

Sadly for people with a mental illness, and sometimes their carers as well, it is can be a time of stress, of reflection on loss, of isolation.

I encourage everyone to celebrate in whatever way is best for you and your family, and to think about our brothers and sisters who are not as fortunate. Let that reflection make us all more determined to ensure that every person with a mental illness, every carer of a person with mental illness, receive the health, psychosocial and emotional care that is on parity with all other illnesses.

Have a wonderful Christmas and may the New Year bring us the success that we seek.
