Help aHead – funded by the Australian Government via the Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network (CESPHN) – aims to improve access to mental health support for the community by delivering services that address people’s social, physical and emotional needs. It will provide access to psychological and psychosocial support, care coordination, and local service navigation, with the capacity to scale and meet a wide range of mental health needs.
Denise Cumming, Interim Executive Director One Door Mental Health, said One Door was proud to be selected to deliver this new, innovative model of mental health care.
“Help aHead is an opportunity to reshape and rethink how we support people experiencing mental health challenges in New South Wales, and One Door is delighted to be at the forefront of this movement, alongside CESPHN and Grand Pacific Health [lead provider for the Help aHead hub in Sutherland],” Ms Cumming said.
“By working in partnership with people with lived and living experience of mental health challenges, service providers, community members, families and carers, and GPs, Help aHead will foster hope, connection and empowerment for people experiencing psychological distress.”
Once established, the Inner South Help aHead hub will bring together multidisciplinary teams offering clinical and non-clinical services, including psychological therapies and psychiatry, psychosocial support and holistic health care. The model is built to support people with a wide range of needs, including those with co-occurring conditions or complex psychosocial barriers.
The Inner South Help aHead hub is expected to commence service delivery by July 2026.
