Illawarra Clubhouse (Wollongong)

A place for you in Wollongong

Illawarra Clubhouse offers a safe, supportive, respectful environment for people living with mental illness. It’s a place you can go to meet other people with lived experience of mental illness, take part in activities and find the help you need on your mental health journey.

Since our humble beginnings in 2009, when we operated only one day per week, our membership has increased and our members continue to take on more and more tasks including the creation of our vegetable garden that grows some of the vegetables we use for lunch, as well as expanding access to housing, educational, employment and social opportunities.

Illawarra Clubhouse is open Tuesday and Thursday 9:00am – 3:00pm. Please feel free to drop by for a coffee and a chat or give us a call.

Illawarra Clubhouse is run by One Door Mental Health. Each member of Illawarra Clubhouse is welcome, wanted and expected to arrive each day.

One Door Mental Health Illawarra Committee

One Door Mental Health Illawarra (Committee) is a group of dynamic local leaders supporting the work of One Door in the Illawarra area.

The Committee started its life as the Light and Hope Committee in 2004 with the purpose of improving mental health services in the Wollongong area. In 2004 the Committee commenced a partnership with Schizophrenia Fellowship (now One Door) to develop new services for their community, in particular a Clubhouse. Clubhouse is a particular model of psychosocial rehabilitation for people with mental illness, which has been pioneered in Australia by One Door Mental Health.

The Committee continues to advocate for a Clubhouse and is currently funding a part time Light and Hope Clubhouse in Wollongong run by One Door. Recent fundraising successes through various activities, including Corporate Luncheons, have raised the profile of the organisation and increased much needed funds.
