One Door Sunflower Centre Newcastle also houses Centre-Based Services. Centre-Based Services are a place you can go to take part in activities to help you on your mental health journey.
Cooking with Troy - Learn how to shop for and prepare simple, healthy and cost effective meals, then enjoy your creation together.
Men’s Social group – a place for men to connect whilst learning new experiences or doing activities such as fishing, golf, BBQs, dining, sporting events, game days and centre based “man cave” type activities. (Includes cook ups, jam sessions, movies and general chill outs with the lads).
Women’s Business - a place for women to discuss issues, explore topics of interest or plan speakers or outings. Activities include; baking, pamper days, shopping, simple craft. Come and connect with other ladies in a relaxed environment.
Computer Confidence Class – improve your computer skills eg. Setting up an email account, internet searching, shopping online, designing cards or flyers.
Centre Based Activities – also include play doh, colouring, DVD watching, playing games on Wii, board games, jig-saw puzzles, brain teasers, art and craft, knitting and crochet – work on your own project or join us in working on our “Wrap with Love” blanket, for which supplies are provided. (See www.wrapwithlove.com). Come in and try out your favourite activity.
Newcastle Mental Health Support Group - a regular group for carers and consumers to meet and talk. Outings often planned and walks organised. No NDIS plan needed.
Support Group Coffee Club – an outing to local cafe, organised by Newcastle Mental Health Support Group members. No NDIS plan necessary.
Hearing Voices Group – a group for all those who have ever had the experience of voice hearing. Held in conjunction with Flourish, this is a Voices NSW support group.
Fishing Club – New! Running Friday mornings, for all you keen fishermen. Rods, tackle and bait can be provided. Contact office on 8315 1450 or your Support Worker for further details. Open to men and women.
Combined Men’s and Women’s Social Group –. Get together and enjoy activities and socialising, includes things like lunch out, pool competition, fishing, op-shopping, the sky is the limit.
Meal Planning and Preparation – Meet together and plan the week’s menu, shop and cook to take home your favourite food. Bring your favourite recipe and stock your fridge and freezer or the week. Please note there is a contribution charge for food for each participant.
Music Jam Session – for all our musicians, a no pressure jam session held here at One Door. Bring your favourite instrument and discover what you and others can make happen.
