You may have heard that One Door Mental Health is going through a time of change. We want you to know that we continue working to create a world a world where people living with mental illness are valued and treated as equals.
There have been significant changes in the mental health sector since 2016. Like most other service providers, we’ve been thinking carefully about how to adapt to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and the Commonwealth government’s radical reduction in their funding, with no funding at all by 30 June 2019.
One Door went through a complete consultation with our staff in Dubbo to explore the best way forward. We listened to our clients to understand their needs and we gave unique consideration to each area of operation.
One Door retains a commitment to deliver services where we have existing Commonwealth government contracts. This means that in Dubbo we will continue to operate our Personal Helpers and Mentors Program (PHaMs) until 30 June 2019, with reduced staffing levels at our new location.
One Door regrets that in Dubbo we will not provide services and supports for clients who have an NDIS plan. This decision was not made lightly. We’ll support our clients through this transition period to engage with new services.
One Door has a long history of working with all of you: our partners, colleagues, consumers, carers, and community members. The One Door Dubbo staff thank you for your past and ongoing collaboration and look forward to working with you in our new capacity in the future.
