Paul B, Illawarra Clubhouse

I have been a Clubhouse member since 2009. I was born in Port Kembla Hospital and live in central Wollongong. I keep coming back to Clubhouse because of the warm, welcoming, inclusiveness where everyone is treated the same way & the belonging that comes from being a part of Clubhouse, especially after 11 years.

Hello, My Names is Paul B

I have been a Clubhouse member since 2009. I was born in Port Kembla Hospital and live in central Wollongong. I keep coming back to Clubhouse because of the warm, welcoming, inclusiveness where everyone is treated the same way & the belonging that comes from being a part of Clubhouse, especially after 11 years.

A few of my favourite things:

A few of my NOT SO favourite things:

I dislike humidity, others conflict and when my anxiety takes over

Something you may not know about me is that I spent two years travelling around Australia working in restaurants & tea rooms on Great Keppel Island, Uluru, Darwin & Margaret River.

My top five recovery tips are being kind to myself, engaging in self-care, attending twelve step groups, making some progress however small, eating well (doing the basics), having meaningful activities, taking my medication every day, having down time.

My hope for the future of mental health in Australia is more research into mental illness, better treatments, and better medications. Also ensure NSW Health and Australian Health reach all people who need it, and no one falls through the cracks.
