Hello All,
One Door delivers many recovery-oriented and person-centred services across NSW. This includes our new centre in Wollongong – the Illawarra Clubhouse. This service has been around for many years, previously known as the Light and Hope Clubhouse, but we recently celebrated the opening of our new premises in Auburn Street. It was a pleasure to have the Minister for Mental Health, Regional Youth and Women, Bronnie Taylor, and the Minister for Family and Community Services, Gareth Ward, in attendance to officially open the building. The centre is a home away from home for many consumers with a mental illness – three who spoke very clearly on the impact that the centre has made for their recovery and wellness. These centre-based services are crucial and have an important part to play in the recovery journey for those living with a mental illness.
As we head into Mental Health Month in October, let’s work together to reduce stigma around mental illness across the country. Join us for our annual Wellness Walk on Sunday 13 October - you can help us to raise awareness for mental health and meet others who are sharing this journey.
