One Door's November eNews - From the CEO

November 2021

Thank you all for your support of our ninth annual Wellness Walk. Though we couldn't walk together this year, over 400 participants across 128 locations in Australia helped us to raise awareness and funds for people living with severe and enduring mental illness and their carers. An amazing effort! We were also delighted to receive a video message from the Governor-General of Australia and our Patron, Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, talking about the importance of keeping active. I thank them for their ongoing support of the Wellness Walk and our organisation and we all look forward to walking with them in person next year.

With the easing of restrictions across NSW, events such as our 'Staying Together When Emotions Run High' training for professionals and families will return soon. We also look forward to welcoming our first residents into our Supported Independent Living (SIL) house in Nowra. This is an exciting opportunity for One Door to expand our NDIS services in a new direction and provide increased support for people living with psychosocial disabilities. We are also beginning to welcome people back to our centre-based services, when permitted under current Public Health Orders. It has been great to hear stories of friends reuniting through our services after many months apart and I can't wait to get back out and meet with you all again soon. For those who are Company Members, our Annual General Meeting will be held via videoconference and teleconference on 3 December. Please keep an eye on our website (LINK) for the release of our Annual Report in coming weeks.

Finally, I would like to congratulate our Primary Integrated Care Supports (PICS) team, who received a Highly Commended in this year's Mental Health Service Awards. It is always wonderful to see our teams recognised for the extraordinary work they do.

Until next month,
Kathi
